Brompton Juniors 4 Stockton Town U12's 1
2/03/2008
Goal Scorers Joe Hewison
Man Of The Match Kyle Ucarer

Written By Wayne Dennis

Stockton visited unbeaten Brompton Juniors, Stockton kicked off with the advantage of a strong wind, in a closely contested match. Stockton started the brightest with Joe Hewison forcing Brompton’s goalkeeper to make an excellent save. Stockton continued to press forward with Kyle Ucarer going close with a powerful header that was cleared off the line. Brompton soaked up the early pressure and then midway through the first period they came back strongly forcing Stockton’s goalkeeper Cameron Grove to make some outstanding saves. With Stockton not taking the early opportunities Brompton started to show their quality using the long ball to release their two strikers. Stockton’s defence of Reece Cowley, Harry Hurst, Michael Stokes and Jacob Dennis maintained their discipline, giving Brompton limited opportunities. Late in the first period hesitation in Stockton’s defence let Brompton centre forward through to slot home from 2 yards leaving the keeper no chance.

Half-time 1- 0.

Stockton made a sluggish start in the second period against a well organised Brompton side. As expected this was a very competitive match with a strong Brompton team starting to dominate and make things very difficult for Stockton. But a well organised midfield and defence kept the home team at bay with Dwayne Ward and Ben Hutchinson making vital tackles to deny Brompton possession. Stockton finally took the initiative and pressed forward with Ucarer providing a perfect pass to open up Brompton’s defence, giving Joe Hewison a chance, to which he blasted the ball goal bound only for Brompton’s goalkeeper to make an excellent save, tipping it over the bar. Stockton could not reproduce the earlier quality and were soon second best, the pressure finally told when a looping shot beat the Stockton’s keeper. Brompton played the better football in the second half and scored two further goals. Stockton continued to attack and with pride producing some good passing which carved Brompton apart with Hewison scoring Stockton’s consolation goal with a blistering shot into the top corner from 10 yards.

Full-time 4-1.
