Stockton Town U16's 3 21st Allstars 1
16/03/2008
Goal Scorers Fred Woodhouse x 2, Tom Portas
Man Of The Match Tom Portas

Written By Wayne Dennis

Stockton continued there good run of form with a commanding victory over 21st Allstars from Darlington. The early exchanges were a fairly even affair with neither goalkeeper called into action. Stockton started to get into there rhythm and Fred Woodhouse was starting to make things happen down the left, with a number of strong runs and crosses.

However against the run of play Allstars grabbed the lead after some poor defending from the home side allowed room for a cross from inside the box and a Allstars forward to prod home from close range. Stockton continued to play constructive football despite the poor conditions and after a good move down there right Fred Woodhouse converted only to see it ruled out for offside. Stockton were now getting the ball into wide areas on a regular basis and causing Allstars problems.

The equaliser came after a long cross from Luke Johnson forced the Allstars keeper into a desperate overhead save, the ball falling to Fred Woodhouse who knocked in from close range. Stockton were now well on top and after a number of corners they went in front when Tom Portas fired home from close range after Allstars failed to clear.

The second half started with a couple of Stockton chances, one to Nathan Clarke and the other to James Casey, both bringing excellent saves from the Allstars goalkeeper. It wasn’t long before Stockton Town increased their advantage when a James Casey cross was met with a fine header by Fred Woodhouse back into the far corner. The second half continued to be dominated by Stockton Town who ran out worthy winners. There were a number of outstanding performances from Reece Connelly, Fred Woodhouse, Nathan Clarke and Michael Harwood. However the Man of the Match Award went to Tom Portas who controlled the midfield throughout the game.
