Stockton Town U16's 2 Marton 0
20/04/2008
Goal Scorers Fred Woodhouse, Hal White
Man Of The Match Luke Johnson

Written By Wayne Dennis

Stockton went into the game needing a win to continue their challenge for the 1st Division Title.

After forcing the early play Stockton found themselves on the back foot with Marton keeping them under pressure.

However Marton only caused one real scare when a long throw from the left caused confusion in the Stockton penalty box, with the ball eventually being cleared off the line.

After half an hour's play, Stockton changed things by introducing James Casey and Scott Hillerby.

Their impact was almost immediate as Stockton were now winning the ball further up the pitch and they started to dominate the game.

The game reached half time goalless.

The second half started off with Stockton on the front foot and it wasn’t long before Tom Portas found Hal White in the inside left position with a great through ball.

Hal checked back on to his right foot and coolly beat the keeper from 12 yards.

It was all Stockton now with the centre half partnership of Luke Johnson and Reece Connelly dominating the Marton forwards and Fred Woodhouse running the Marton defence ragged.

The second goal came when Fre Woodhouse broke on to the left hand edge of the Marton penalty area and smashed an unstoppable shot with his left foot into the far corner.

Marton rarely threatened in the second half and Stockton ran out comfortable winners.

There were numerous good performances from Stockton players Reece Connelly, Fred Woodhouse but they were pipped to the Man of the Match Award by Luke Johnson.
